Now that you pretty much have an idea on what you can and can’t afford, and you’re quite set on either buying or leasing, you can now face facts and narrow down your search on what type of car to go for.
Remember: NEVER head to the car dealer without the basic idea on what kind of vehicle you need. As I mentioned before, try not to get sweet-talked into buying a vehicle that doesn’t suit or address your lifestyle or needs.
Before you start looking at the different cars in car lots or looking online for used cars, you first need to figure out what type of car works best for you. There are so many different car models on the market, that the simple act of narrowing down your choices becomes ultra-complex. While a smart and sharp two-seater may seem very appealing now, it’s hardly a practical choice especially if there’s carpool involved.
You’ll have to ask yourself: luxury sedan or truck? Sports Coupe or SUV? Before you blurt out quick answers, take a look at these questions and answer them honestly.
- How important is gas mileage for you? Does your work require you to take long drives from state to state?
- What kind of cargo capacity do you need? i.e. Are you planning on loading your vehicle with goods and products for the office? Do you move around a lot?
- Are you planning on getting an automatic or a manual transmission vehicle?
- Are you going to be driving off-road, in a city or mainly through highways?
- How large a vehicle can you fit into your garage space?
- Do you need a car that can tow other vehicles?
Once you’ve got your priorities listed down, then you can use the simple process of elimination to find out what type of vehicle you’ should purchase.
